Saturday is a Work Day

Work, work, work. Saturday has become a work day, which the kids HATE. They accomplished what they were expected to do today, though, so they have been rewarded. Zoe and Emily had a very productive morning weeding the garden and Zoe cleaned out Matt's truck box, which was not a pleasant job. I had to chuckle when she was telling Emily that she has become "Dad's cleaning maid". At lunchtime, when Eleanor and Zach realized that Zoe and Emily were going to do something fun in the evening because they were working hard, they were motivated to work hard, too. :-) They went out to the garden after lunch and did their share of weeding.

Matt took Noah to the dump with him and then they went to buy some materials for the house construction. Noah came back with a McDonald's toy, so we knew he had been treated to lunch as well.

Zoe, Emily, and I unloaded cinder blocks for Matt. Poor Emily had a bit of a hard time, but she hung in there and helped. We also helped Matt with some measuring. It was not easy nor fun, but we did the best we could in the 80+ degree weather. I kept telling the girls to focus on the reward.

Zoe and Emily are now at my parents' house spending the night and watching the 3rd Harry Potter movie. Eleanor, Zach, Kate, and Noah are watching a movie in their beds in the living room. They love to sleep in the living room. Mainly because they get to watch tv in bed. Fun! I am now going to go read. That is my reward.

Emily woke up this morning looking a bit strange. Her eyes were puffy, which gave her a chinese/japanese look according to Matt. She was concerned about going to church tomorrow looking the way she did, but fortunately she was looking back to normal this evening. When my Mom saw her, she couldn't see anything different about Emily, so that was good.

I had a friend in high school and almost every morning we picked her up for seminary she had really puffy eyes. She wouldn't even let me see them and I was one of her best friends! But it only took a couple of hours before they had gone down. She could speed the process up with some cold water on the face or an ice cube probably.
